What does Dr. Allen specialize in?
He practices what is termed “integrative” medicine. The goal of this approach is to integrate the traditional Western allopathic practice of medicine, familiar to all of us, with “alternative” methods of diagnosis and treatment.
This often allows for more natural and holistic treatment of illness, with the goal of resolving the underlying causes of disease rather than merely removing symptoms.

What can I expect at my first appointment with Dr. Allen?
Dr. Allen will take a thorough history from you, and perform a physical examination. He will also discuss with you any current medical concerns and/or symptoms you may have, as well as your current medications and/or supplements, and then decide which laboratory tests would be appropriate to order based on your individual needs.
A follow-up visit will be scheduled approximately two to three weeks after your initial appointment, at which time Dr. Allen will review the results of your laboratory tests and discuss your treatment plan with you.
-
How long are appointments with Dr. Allen?
A new patient appointment is approximately one hour in length. Follow-up appointments last for 20-30 minutes. Phone consultations, which are offered at Dr. Allen’s regular fees, are available on request, as are appointments via Skype.

Yes, we do have an in-office vitamin/supplement dispensary. Dr. Allen offers this service to his patients in order to be able to provide them the highest quality products in one convenient place.
Dr. Allen individually selects each vitamin or other supplement product that he prescribes for his patients. The products are all well-researched, and he makes every effort to hold them to the latest and highest scientific standards.
In many cases, they are customized formulas that have been specially created for Dr. Allen. They are, therefore, not available in stores or on Internet health/vitamin/supplement sites. He has had many years of experience with the supplements he prescribes, and has seen their efficacy proven in thousands of beneficial and positive patient outcomes.

How quickly will I see results from taking the supplements that Dr. Allen prescribes?
Individuals all react differently to nutritional supplements. In some cases, you will feel a difference in a few weeks; depending on your condition, though, it can take longer before you begin to see sustained improvement.
This is particularly true for any hormones that Dr. Allen may prescribe for you. These may need to be taken for at least a few months for real improvements to be noted.
